Originally a farmer's son Martyn Ward started his own plant hire business “Ward Plant Ltd” in 1973, at the age of 18, which he has grown to a fleet of more than 50 large earthmovers.
Joanne Ward
Owner/Director/Company Secretary
Joanne is a director of the plant hire and contracting company as well as a partner in the farming business. Joanne is a director of the plant hire and contracting company as well as a partner in the farming business.
Chris Ward
Business Partner / Director / Fleet Maintenance Manager
Chris Ward assisted his family with operating the company’s farms during his school years, and started full time when he left school.
Chris manages the servicing and maintenance of the entire fleet.
Gareth Ward
Business Partner/ Director / Farm Manager
Gareth Ward assisted his family with the continuous task of operating the company’s farms during his school years. Today Gareth uses this experience in order to manage all aspects of the company’s farming business.
Colin Buchanan
Contracts Director
Colin commenced his training as a Junior Engineer in 1987, progressing to Site Engineer, Ast Manager, Manager, Regional Manager, Ops Manager and then Conrtacts Director.
Mike Kelly
Company Accountant
Mike spent 20 years operating at a senior level in the accountancy profession, latterly with an international CA firm, specialising in the owner-managed business sector.
Tam McPhail
Site Agent
Tam McPhail has worked on major civil engineering, quarrying and mining projects all over the UK. Tam started with Ward Plant Limited in 1991 as a plant operator and was later promoted to site foreman.
